Clinical Staff

Leslie, RDH
Dental Hygienist

LeslieI provide nonsurgical periodontal therapy to treat disease and maintain health. I have worked in the dental field since 1972, and since 1979 with Dr. Matsuda: 33 years! I love seeing the positive changes in our patients’ oral health.

All of our doctors are wonderful to work with: Dr. Matsuda is always learning and moving the practice forward, and he always wants to do what is best for the patients.  My favorite part of the job is the staff I work with and our wonderful patients.

I am a native of Portland and have lived in Hillsboro since 1981. In my spare time, I like to read and sew, participate in church activities, and play golf with my husband, Gary. I am also taking golf lessons this year! I also enjoy spending time with my daughter, Beth, and my son-in-law, Dan.

Joanne, RDH
Dental Hygienist

JoanneI have worked in the dental profession since 1974 and have been with Dr. Matsuda since 2005. My duties include providing nonsurgical periodontal therapy to treat gum disease and maintain health. I really enjoy my patients; I love meeting new people and helping them to improve their dental and overall health.

The doctors here are constantly taking, or teaching, classes, staying at the top of their field and they truly care about patients and staff. I enjoy the challenge of periodontology and I feel that we have a special team/family. This is a great staff to work with we strive to do excellent work in a caring yet professional manner (and still have fun!).

I am a native of Portland and have lived in Tualatin since 1995. My activities and interests include playing with my grandsons, being at the beach, walking, and reading. I am a huge fan of Ducks football! I love spending time with my daughter, Gina, my son, Scott, and my grandsons, Tyler (age 8) and Lucien (age 5).

Stacy Matsuda, BSDH, RDH, MS
Dental Hygienist

StacyI have been in clinical practice since 1977 and have worked with Dr. Matsuda since 1978. Born and raised in Hillsboro, I was bitten by the dentistry bug early during ortho treatment and feel very lucky to have found a profession I love as much as dental hygiene. Working in my home town has been great fun treating family/friends, teachers, coaches and now classmates who have found their way to our care. Nothing is more rewarding than contributing to the arrest and reversal of serious disease, to establish health, function, and peace of mind for our wonderful patients.

I live in Cedar Mill with my husband of 30+ years, Mel, whose talent and enthusiasm for periodontics and oral implantology is unrivaled. It is rare to see that level of passion for one’s work after three decades; I am so proud of him as well as our team, in the unwavering standards of excellence they have established. We are empty nesters with two Golden Retrievers who love the beach. Our son, Michael, is now a part of our practice, having recently completed his residency at OHSU School of Dentistry where my husband and I both teach part time. I also write for a professional journal, have two textbook projects and present continuing education to dental practitioners.

I love travel, the outdoors and the arts (theatre, music, dance) and am seriously addicted to books (long live Powells). I am happiest when learning or sharing what I have learned with others, as is Mel, so we spend a lot of time attending meetings and scientific conferences to advance our knowledge and skills.

It has been a privilege to serve our practice and see it continue to grow and evolve with new technology and cutting edge therapies. In 2012 we will welcome Dr. Michael Matsuda as our new associate, to continue the legacy of care, expertise and integrity that has long defined our professional staff and practice.

Nancy, CDA, EFDA
Surgical Assistant

photo (5)I have over 30 years of experience in the dental field. In 1978, I graduated from Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon and went on to earn my Dental Assisting Certification from the State of Oregon. After spending a few years working in general dentistry, I realized that I wanted a more challenging career.

I had always been fascinated by the surgical aspect of dentistry, so I decided to explore my options. That decision lead me to where I am today. 25 years ago I started my exciting and rewarding career with Dr. Matsuda at Hillsboro Implants & Periodontics. I truly enjoy the fascinating procedures and ever changing technology.

My duties at the practice include, but are not limited to, Lead Chairside Assistant for Dr. Mel Matsuda, aiding patients with their treatment needs, product ordering and patient education. I continue to attend classes and lectures to stay abreast of the rapidly evolving technology and new products in the field of perio.

I have enjoyed working for Dr. Matsuda for the last 25 years due to his commitment to our patients and his sense of humor. It is my goal to make sure all of our patients feel comfortable by assisting them in any way necessary.

I was born and raised in the Portland area, and have lived in Hillsboro since 1980. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our three wonderful daughters and our amazing grandchildren. When I’m not spending time with my family, you can find me at the gym, working on my strength and conditioning. When taking time for myself, I enjoy reading and sewing.
